President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred a posthumous national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) on the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Tinubu conferred the honour at the burial ceremony of the late COAS.
President Tinubu, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, led a host of dignitaries to pay their respects at the solemn ceremony.
Among those present were the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abass, and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
The rites began with the setting of the casket by the pallbearers, followed by a faith service, the sounding of the Last Post, and a minute of silence to honor the departed Army Chief.
Tinubu announced the conferment of the Commander of the Federal Republic honour on Lagbaja during the burial ceremony of the late Army Chief on Friday in Abuja.
